OBJECTIVE

OBJECTIVE

My Tai Chi journey began by following doctor's orders after sustaining a thoracic spine sprain.  I now teach the fundamentals of the Chen style Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan system to those interested in obtaining and maintaining a balance of health and well-being through these effective centuries-old Chinese arts.  I also continue to practice and study under Harrison Moretz at the Taoist Studies Institute, working on qigong methods, forms, weapons, and push hands.

 MARTIAL ARTS/PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE

Tai Chi forms -

  • Chen style Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan 24

  • Chen style Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan Sword

  • Cheng Man Ch'ing (Yang 37)

  • Beijing Simplified 24

  • Taiji Chair form

Chen style Xinyi Hunyuan Qigong exercises - provides the many benefits of Tai Chi practice, centered on building health and well-being.  This system is medical, martial, artistic, and spiritual (not religious) in nature.  As with Taiji, regular practice helps combat disease, prolong life, enrich the mind, improve the internal organs, and strengthen the body.

Shotokan Karate – Japanese style defensive martial art

In addition to internal and external martial arts, I have been involved in group exercises nearly all of my life, including ballet, gymnastics, and Jazz dance.  These classes have given me the understanding of - and decades of experience with - group exercise dynamics.

TRAINING

I started practicing Taijiquan and Qigong in 1996 and have been fortunate to study under Harrison Moretz, Ken Wright, Madame Gao Fu, Martin Mellish, and Gary Wessels.   In the United States, China, and Canada, I have participated in workshops by Taijiquan Masters Feng Zhiqiang, Feng Xiufang, Chen Xiang & Feng Xiuqian, Chen Xiao Wang, Yang Jun, William C.C. Chen, and Benjamin Lo.  I also studied Shotokan Karate under the Honorable Sensei Cathy Cline, 7th Dan.
